Privacy Policy — Flick Arrow

This Privacy Policy describes how Flick Arrow (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. It is written to be honest, complete, and short — because the app itself is honest, complete, and short. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Flick Arrow is developed and operated by Jonathan Kauch under Genji Games, an independent game studio. We can be reached at the email address listed at the bottom of this document.

2. What information we handle

Flick Arrow is designed to be lightweight on data. We only handle what is strictly required to run the leaderboard and remember your settings.

2.1 Stored on your device only

The following items are written to your phone’s local storage and never transmitted to us or to any third party:

Your most-recent and best scores in each game mode (Regular and Random)
Your selected game mode
Your sound preference (the “play in silent mode” toggle)
A copy of your chosen nickname

These values live only on your phone. Uninstalling the app removes them. Scores are also automatically cleared after a 30-day inactivity window.

2.2 Sent to our backend (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore)

The following items are transmitted to our backend so we can power the cross-platform leaderboard:

A randomly assigned anonymous user ID generated by Firebase Anonymous Authentication on first launch. This ID is a random string. It is not linked to any account, email address, phone number, advertising identifier, or any other personal identifier.
Your nickname (the value you choose, 2–16 characters)
Your best score in each game mode
A server-generated timestamp of when your best score was last updated

That is the entire payload sent to our backend.

2.3 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect any of the following:

Your name, email address, phone number, postal address, or any other contact information
Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android)
Your IP address (beyond the transient values Firebase needs to route a single network request, which Google does not retain in a form we can access)
Your precise or approximate location
Any analytics, behavioral tracking, fingerprinting, or attribution data
Anything from your contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, photo library, or files
Any data about other apps installed on your device

The app contains no third-party analytics SDKs and no in-app purchases.

2.4 Advertising

The app shows a single banner advertisement on the Game Over screen, served by Google AdMob. We request only non-personalized ads — Google may still use limited information about your device (general region inferred from IP, OS version, language) to deliver a relevant ad, but does not build a profile of you across apps or sites. The app does not use the iOS App Tracking Transparency identifier (IDFA) and does not request the Android Advertising ID for personalised tracking. Ads are served under Google AdMob’s own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

3. How the data is used

Data we transmit to our backend is used only to operate the in-app leaderboard.

Other players can see the nicknames and best scores of the global top 50 in each game mode (Regular and Random).
Other players cannot see your anonymous user ID, the timestamp of your last play, or any device information.
We do not sell, share, rent, or otherwise disclose your data to any third party for advertising, profiling, retargeting, or any commercial purpose.

4. Third-party processors

Flick Arrow uses:

Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore to host the leaderboard. Data described in §2.2 is stored on Google’s infrastructure under our Firebase project. Google’s handling of that data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms.
Google AdMob to serve the single banner ad on the Game Over screen (see §2.4). The app requests non-personalized ads only.

We do not engage any other third-party processor.

5. Security

All network traffic between the app and our backend uses HTTPS / TLS transport encryption.
Server-side access to your leaderboard row is restricted by Firebase Security Rules that allow only the anonymous user who created the row to modify their own entry, and never to reduce their own score.
Reads of the leaderboard are public (other players need to see it), but no personal data is exposed.

6. Permissions

iOS: the app does not request any sensitive permission — no microphone, no camera, no location, no contacts, no photo library, no notifications.
Android: the app declares the MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS permission, a normal-level (auto-granted) permission used by the operating system for audio focus during playback. The app does not request RECORD_AUDIO, location, contacts, or any other sensitive permission.

7. Data retention and your rights

Local data

Uninstalling the app removes all local data. Scores are automatically expired after 30 days of inactivity.

Server data (your leaderboard row)

Your leaderboard row consists only of the data items listed in §2.2. You may, at any time, request:

Access: a copy of the data we hold associated with your nickname
Correction: changes to your nickname (the app lets you do this in-app at any time)
Deletion: complete removal of your leaderboard row

To exercise any of these rights, email the address in §10 with your nickname and approximate last play time. We will respond within 30 days and complete the request without charge.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, the rights above are guaranteed to you regardless of where the app is used, in line with GDPR, the UK GDPR, and the CCPA / CPRA.

8. Children’s privacy

Flick Arrow is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, the same is true for users of all ages. If a parent or guardian believes a child’s data was nevertheless submitted, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the Last updated date at the top of this document will change, and (if the changes are material) we will note the change in the next app update’s release notes. Continued use of the app after the policy is updated constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
